We will begin our 10-day tour from Casablanca with a pick-up from the airport or your accommodation by our English-speaking driver. In Casablanca, we will visit the iconic Hassan II Mosque overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. It is one of the largest mosques in the world. Free time for lunch.
Then we explore the city and visit interesting places like the Cornish of Casablanca, and pigeon square. Next, we will head to Rabat, the capital city of Morocco. Check into your hotel/riad for the night and have a delicious Moroccan dinner.
After breakfast, we’ll tour Rabat’s top sights. We’ll see the unfinished Hassan Tower and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, a tomb that houses the remains of the late king and his sons. We’ll also explore the Kasbah of the Udayas, an old fortress town overlooking the ocean.
Then we’ll drive north to the blue city of Chefchaouen in the Rif Mountains. The city is known for its blue-painted buildings and narrow streets. You’ll have free time to walk around Chefchaouen’s medina by yourself. Overnight stay in a hotel.
After breakfast, we’ll leave Chefchaouen and head to Fes, stopping at a few places on the way. The first stop is the Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, you’ll go on a guided tour through the remarkably preserved remnants of this once-thriving city and learn about its fascinating history. You’ll see old buildings, mosaics, and columns from when Romans lived there a long time ago.
Continuing our journey, we’ll arrive in Meknes, one of Morocco’s imperial cities. Free time for lunch then our visit will commence at the Bab El Mansour gate, an ornamental gate to the city built by Sultan Moulay Ismail. Then it’s on to the granary and a visit to Sahrij Souani, a magnificent water basin that once served as a reservoir for the city.
We’ll also stop at the Mulay Ismail Mausoleum, the ornately decorated tomb of the 17th-century Sultan Moulay Ismail. Then drive directly to Fes City where you will spend the night.
After breakfast, we will have a tour of the Medina in Fes with a local guide. Firstly, we start the day by visiting the Royal Palace Gate. Then explore the Jewish quarter, known as Mellah with its synagogue. This area was once home to a thriving Jewish community.
A highlight of our tour will be a visit to the famous Fes tannery. Here, we will witness the age-old process of leather tanning. We will also visit the Moulay Idriss II Mausoleum, a sacred site honoring one of Morocco’s most revered leaders. Our tour will continue to the Al Karaouine University, one of the oldest universities in the world.
Our tour also includes visiting The Medrasa Bouanania and the Najjarine fountain. In the afternoon, we will drive to an ancient fortress that offers a panoramic view of the entire Medina and the city of Fes. Later you will have a free program to discover Fes medina by yourself. Then return to our traditional Riad for an overnight stay.
After a warm breakfast, we start the desert tour part from Fes to Merzouga desert. Our first stop will be Ifrane, also called the “Little Switzerland of Morocco” due to its Alpine-style architecture and cool climate. Then the tour continues to the Cedar Forest where Barbary macaque monkeys live.
We will continue exploring the Middle Atlas Mountains passing through some Berber villages and the apple city of Midelt, where we will take a short break here for lunch. Then we drive to Merzouga along the Ziz Valley and through its palm groves and traditional Berber villages. Stops will be made along the way for panoramic views.
Pass by Erfoud and visit the fossils and marble workshop. In the late afternoon, we will reach the Merzouga Sahara desert. Dinner and overnight in a hotel.
Following a typical traditional Berber breakfast, we meet the driver to begin the day with a Quad excursion through the Sahara Desert. First, we will drive off-road to the mining town of M’fis, an abandoned village once bustling with lead-based minerals extracted for centuries and used to produce traditional Moroccan eye makeup called khol.
After that, we will pay a visit to a nomadic Berber family living in a handwoven tent and share a cup of tea with them. This unique opportunity will provide insights into their way of life and traditions.
Our next destination is Khamlia village where you will enjoy the Gnaoua music and dance performance. Gnaoua is a unique spiritual music tradition that blends African, Berber, and Arabic influences, accompanied by rhythmic dancing. Lunch will be at a restaurant in the area.
After the 4×4 excursion, we will switch to camels and start camel trekking over the Erg Chebbi Dunes. We will make a stop at a high dune to enjoy the sunset. Then continue to the camp where you can enjoy Berber drum music and dancing around the campfire. Dinner and overnight under the vast open sky.
On the 7th day of your 10-day Morocco itinerary from Casablanca, we suggest starting your day early to witness the magic sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes. After that, we will have breakfast and shower either at the luxury desert camp (if you selected that option) or at a guest house in Merzouga (if you opted for a standard camp).
Then head to Merzouga town by either crossing the sand dunes by camel or a 4×4 SUV where your driver will be waiting. Depart Merzouga, making our way towards the impressive Todra Gorges. On the way, we will stop in Rissani if it happens to be a market day (Sunday, Tuesday, or Thursday).
From Rissani, we will continue our journey through Tinghir and its palm groves and valleys until we reach the world-famous Todra Gorges. It is an impressive canyon 300m high. Feel free to take a walk between the cliffs of the canyon and beside the Todra River. Free time for lunch in a restaurant.
Then we continue exploring Morocco to Dades Valley and Gorge. This scenic region is known for its unique rock formations, carved by the Dades River over millions of years. Finally, check into your hotel in Boumalne Dades.
After breakfast, we continue our trip to the Valley of Roses, also known as Kelaa M’Gouna, an area famous for its rose water production and annual Rose Festival (held in May).
We then travel along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, a scenic route that winds through numerous fortified villages and kasbahs. Later, we reach Ouarzazate, often referred to as the “Door of the Desert.” Here, we’ll have the opportunity to visit the impressive Taourirt Kasbah and explore the studios in which famous movies were shot.
Drive to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Benhaddou, a striking fortified village that has served as a backdrop for numerous Hollywood films, including “Gladiator” and “Game of Thrones.”
Then we drive towards Marrakech, crossing the famous Tizi n’Tichka pass through the High Atlas Mountains. Along the way, we’ll make stops to capture the stunning scenery and have lunch. Dinner and overnight stay in a Riad in Marrakech.
After breakfast, we’ll explore Marrakech’s highlights with a local guide. It is known as the “Red City” because of its pink-painted buildings. Your tour includes exploring: the Koutoubia Mosque (the largest mosque in Marrakech), the Bahia Palace, and Saadian Tombs.
After lunch, we head to Jemaa el Fna Square, a lively market square and UNESCO site filled with food stalls, vendors, snake charmers, local musicians, and fortune-tellers. We will spend the night at the same hotel in the medina.
On the last day of the 10-day Morocco tour, we will transfer you from your hotel in Marrakech to Casablanca. Stops will be made for panoramic views. Then transfer to Mohammed V International Airport for your return flight. This marks the end of this private 10-day tour from Casablanca itinerary.
