The tour culminates with your arrival in the imperial city of Marrakech after crossing the stunning High Atlas Mountains.

6 Days Tour From Tangier To Marrakech

Day 1 : Tangier → Chefchaouen

Begin your 6 Day Tangier to Marrakech Tour Itinerary, where you’ll be picked by your driver from your hotel, airport, or the  harbor. Your journey starts with a scenic drive to Chefchaouen, known as the Blue city at the foot of the Rif Mountains. Stops will be made for panoramic views.

Upon arrival we will have free time to discover this enchanting little town. Walk through its narrow streets painted with blue and white colors that will give you the opportunity to take some beautiful pictures, and visit its old medina,  Plaza Uta el-Hammam. We will have a delicious lunch at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon, we’ll visit the Chefchaouen Ethnographic Museum, which is housed in a beautifully restored kasbah and showcases a collection of traditional pottery, textiles, jewelry, and other artifacts that provide insights into the local Berber and Andalusian influences.

Next is  the octagonal minaret of the Great Mosque, a striking architectural landmark that dominates the skyline of Chefchaouen. After an eventful day exploring the highlights of Chefchaouen, we’ll check into our hotel for the night.

Day 2 : Chefchaouen → Fes

On the second day of your Tangier to Marrakech tour, after enjoying breakfast in Chefchaouen, we’ll depart for the imperial city of Fes. The city is considered the cultural and religious center of Morocco. Upon arrival, a local guide will join us and start the tour of the Royal Palace. Although not open to the public, you can admire the Royal Palace gate and exterior. 

After that we will visit Jewish Quarter (Mellah), a historic neighborhood that was home to Fes’ Jewish community. We’ll then proceed to an ancient fortress where you’ll have panoramic views of the South Tower and the numerous mosques dotting Fes’ skyline.

Then start with a walking tour within the narrow streets of the old Medina. You will enter Medina and visit the famous tanneries and witness the age-old tradition of leather dyeing and tanning. Then the Quaraouine Mosque and University, which holds the distinction of being the oldest continuously operating university in the world.

We will also visit Attarin Medersa, a beautifully restored 14th-century Koranic school, and the Najjarin Fountain. After the tour, we’ll then check into a traditional riad.

Day 3 : Fes → Middle Atlas → Ziz Valley → Merzouga Desert

Your 6 days tour from Tangier to Merzouga continues towards Merzouga desert passing through the scenic  middle Atlas Mountain. Stop in  Ifrane, known as the “Little Switzerland of Morocco” due to its Alpine-style architecture, snow and its low temperature. 

Then cross the famous cedar forests of the Middle Atlas, where you’ll have the opportunity to witness the Barbary macaques. We’ll break for lunch in Midelt. Then drive along the Ziz Valley, a picturesque oasis dotted with palm groves and traditional Berber villages. We’ll make stops to admire a panoramic view of this breathtaking valley.

In the afternoon, we will reach the Sahara desert of Merzouga where you’ll leave your suitcases in the car and embark on a camel caravan ride towards the camp with a stop on top of a high dune to enjoy the sunset. 

At the camp, you’ll be welcomed with a traditional glass of mint tea. Then relax and later, enjoy a delicious dinner under the starry Sahara desert sky. You will also experience the captivating rhythms of traditional Berber drumming and dancing around the campfire, adding to the authenticity of this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Spend the night in a nomadic tent.

Day 4 : Merzouga Desert → Todra Gorges → Dades Valley → Rose Valley → Ouarzazate

Wake up early to witness a breathtaking desert sunrise near our camp. After a hearty breakfast, we’ll bid farewell to the dunes and make our way to Erfoud, where we’ll visit one of the workshops of fossilized marble. Continuing our journey, we’ll pass through the Touroug and Tinjdad palm groves, lush oases that provide a stark contrast to the arid desert landscapes we’ve experienced. 

Our next stop will be the famous Todra Gorges, one of the strongest points of the High Atlas. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the narrow, towering canyons carved by the Todra River over millions of years. A half-hour walk along the gorge is highly recommended to fully appreciate the gorges in detail.

After lunch, we’ll continue our journey through the Dades Valley, often referred to as the “Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs.” Along the way, we’ll make several stops to enjoy the views of ancient kasbahs and palm groves that dot the landscape. 

Then drive through the Valley of Roses, a region renowned for its vast fields of fragrant Damask roses. Depending on the season, you may have the opportunity to  witness the blooming of the flowers or even participate in the rose harvesting process which takes place in May.

As we approach Ouarzazate, we’ll make a stop at the great palm grove of Skoura. In Ouarzazate, we’ll visit the impressive Kasbah of Taourirt. Our day will conclude with check-in at a traditional riad (a Moroccan house with an interior courtyard) in Ouarzazate.

Day 5 : Ouarzazat → Kasbahs Ait Ben Haddou → High Atlas → Marrakech

After enjoying breakfast, we’ll kick off our day by visiting the famous Cinema Studios and Cinema Museum in which famous movies were shot. (Note: This activity is optional and can be skipped if not of interest.)

We then depart to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified town that dates back to the 17th century. This remarkable ksar (fortified village) is a prime example of traditional Moroccan earthen architecture and has served as a backdrop for numerous Hollywood films, including “Gladiator” and “Game of Thrones.”We’ll break for lunch in the village.

After lunch, we’ll drive towards Marrakech, crossing the High Atlas Mountains via the highest road pass in Morocco called Tizi n’Tichka pass at 2260 meters above sea level. During our ascent, we’ll make several stops to capture stunning panoramic views of valleys, mountains, and photograph the picturesque Berber villages that dot the hillsides. We will arrive in Marrakech in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight in a hotel.

Day 6 : Marrakech → Airport

After breakfast, the 6 Days Tangier Desert Tour continues. You’ll have the morning free to explore Marrakech at your own pace. Our driver will meet you at your accommodation and transfer you to the airport, marking the end of your 6 Days trip from Tangier.
